What does it mean to become a member?
When you become a member of the co-op, you become part owner of the co-op. Membership not only gives you access to a 10% discount on all grocery purchases, and also gives you the right to vote and make decisions within the democratic statutes of the organization.
How can I become a member?
To become a member, simply select a PayPal button to the right! We will issue a member card on your next visit to the Co-op. You may also fill out the membership application and receive your member card on your next trip to Goodside Grocery.
What does it mean to volunteer?
Goodside Grocery is run exclusively on volunteer power. Volunteering gets you a 20% discount on purchases and, perhaps more importantly, helps make the Sheboygan community stronger and more vibrant. To lend your hand, click HERE to fill out our volunteer form!
Co-op or Corporation?
A cooperative differs from a corporation in that it is owned by its’ members. This shifts the responsibility and the success to the community instead of the single owner or the corporate identity. The Co-op is a business owned and operated by a group of individuals for their mutual benefit. A cooperative is defined by the International Cooperative Alliance’s Statement on the Cooperative Identity as “an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise”. A cooperative may also be defined as a business owned and controlled equally by the people who use its services or by the people who work there.
